🤍❤️ Where Poland’s White and Red Come From

There are many stories about where Poland’s white and red come from — heraldry, medieval coats of arms, the legend of Lech and the eagle’s nest.

But the version that stayed with me is the one my grandmother told me as a child: that the white and red came from a white eagle that landed on the blood Poles shed throughout their turbulent history.

I’ve never found a more beautiful explanation. Maybe because it was the first one I heard. Maybe because it’s true in the way that matters most.

On Polish Heritage Day, this is one of the things that connects Poles around the world — not just a flag, but the stories we carry with us. Wherever we’ve landed. 🇵🇱
